  well, i've been lurking for a bit.

  first out of cautious curiosity, then, though feeling a bit more comfortable to post, got caught in the confirmation email anomaly, and left unable to post or participate.

  so i remained lurking, reading and researching.

  Welcome I.M. to this fourm. I know all to well about lurking. I think I did it for about 2 years before coming on this site. Hope to hear your story and what woke you up. Some here had hard lives as jw's and others not so hard but all victims of a high control cult. Take care and enjoy your new freedom.. Still Totally ADD

  Reminiscing about the Manchester JW Scene

  i’m sure like many of you that use this forum i sometimes think back over the years as a jw and recall the funny, the strange and then the downright bizarre things that happened within the organisation.

  i grew up and settled in a densely jw populated area of manchester which was filled with the usual jw drama and nonsense.. if you were from the area and have any memories or stories please post them here.. one of the things i clearly recall (and i’m sure this wasn’t just a manchester jw thing) was the massive drinking culture within the jw community.

  i didn’t really pick up on it until i started questioning things but looking back i can remember my parents taking about an elder in the hall that drank a can of beer before going to the thursday meeting.

  Great stories. Here in the U.S. the elders worried more about people having oral sex or masturbating than drinking. Many D.O. and C.O. I knew through the years were big drinkers. Still Totally ADD

  yesterday, there was a court sitiing before the pedophilia lawsuit really starts in quebec(canada) on december 17-18, when it will be presented to the court for acceptance.

  It's very good information. The problem is the cult has brain wash their flock so much they will look at this as something that came from the demons. Because it did not come from the mouth of the GB they will not listen. I know it sad but it is true. Still Totally ADD

  it's been 12 years since i submitted my resignation letter, and stopped playing by their rules.. in a spurt of manic rationality, i blew up the bridge, sky high.

  knowing that the diseased organ would need to be forever removed, away from anything remotely functional in my mind, body, and soul.

  lest i be tempted to return.... so, i left.

  several years ago unless i was dreaming i read a watchtower quotation that effectively said that they would execute us as disfellowshipped individuals if the law would allow.. was i dreaming?.

  Like Amelia we celebrate Xmas. This will be our 10th one. This year is real special. We will be having our youngest son, wife and 3 grand kids here for Xmas. It's going to be a first for all of us. We are working hard to make it a great first Xmas for the grand kids. We are hoping for a white Xmas. Can't wait. Still Totally ADD
